The Las Venturas Metropolitan Police Department will mirror the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department became into effect on July 1, 19733. This resulted in the merge of law enforcement multiple agencies in the Las Vegas area, including the City of Las Vegas Police Department, City of Henderson Police Department, Boulder City Police Department, and the Clark County Sheriff's Department. The new agency would be responsible for all police services within the City limits of the City of Las Vegas and the unincorporated areas of the County of Clark. Since the forming of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department, the department has had 9 Sheriffs, including the present day Sheriff. More history of this can be found here.
